This summer, the first annual Healthy Bite Oral Care Symposium will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The new event is being produced by the IMWSCC in partnership with global specialty minerals distributor Omya; and it will “highlight the latest scientific development in the oral care industry, provide a forum to discuss exciting oral care topics, and an opportunity for industry professionals to network and learn through technical presentations, exhibits, and more,” according to the Intermountain West chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists’ site.

The call for speaker abstracts closes on February 25th. Organizers are looking for “presentations that closely examine research, technologies and solutions that are driving innovation in the oral beauty and wellness space,” such as, “fundamentals of oral care;…oral-systemic health; the aging mouth; innovation in formats, ingredients, and devices; dental hygiene and mental health;” and more.

💧💋rheology & sensory improvements from seaweed

“The Gely™Blue cosmetic carrageenan line is a natural, multi-functional solution, which will help our customers formulate on-trend products with unique textures across beauty applications,” says James Peterson, global vice president of CARE for Univar Solutions in his recent remarks to the press.

The Chile based-company Extractos Naturales Gelymar S.A. partners with ingredient distribution giant Univar to serve the food and pharma industries—an now, across the US and Canada, beauty as well.

Gelymar makes a line of six carrageenan-based ingredients. Carrageenan is an extract of red seaweed; and the company sources theirs from southern Chile. Ingredient attributes and benefits span “fluids to high gelling solids, providing viscosity, stability, and particle suspension properties,” according to the Gelymar site. These ingredients have applications in skincare, hair care, and color cosmetics, as well as in oral care product formulations.
